God Created...

Sunday School is in full swing and we have already had so much fun. Last week we learned the Bible is not a story about heroes, but a rescue story. I can't wait to see what else we learn together in the coming weeks.

When I was thinking through the important verses I want the kids to leave with, I knew Genesis 1:1 would be at the top of my list. " In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth." So, on our first Sunday together we included the verse in our craft project, which the kids LOVED.  I think kids love any project that includes space and glow in the dark paints.

All you need are white paper plates, images of planets, white chalk or a silver pen, black paper, and glow in the dark paint. The project was so simple and the children loved it!

Love thy Neighbor

Last week, Ginger came up with another home-run craft. The beauty of each project is that the work truly enhances the lesson. The lesson stays with the children and they are thrilled to see what is next. Ginger out did herself this time.

The children LOVED this project. I do too, they are so sweet and straight to the point. This Sunday the children will be making paper doll chains to finish up the project.

Love our Neighbors as Ourselves.

For God so......

A couple weeks ago we were working on the memorization of John 3:16.  Ginger once again came up with one of the most fun and original craft idea.  She created globes out of old maps, then printed out the scripture verse so the children would be able to easily cut them out. I think they are fabulous and so did the kids!

PSALM 23

Have I mentioned to you at Calvary St. Georges we are SOOOOO fortunate to have Ginger Oakes on our team. She comes up with the most thrilling and engaging projects for the kids each Sunday. We love her work and so do the kids.A couple weeks ago we were working on PSALM 23. During that class the children were given very creative ways to decorate and design pre-written verses.

All I can say is I wish I were a kid at Cal St.Gs

Handmade Journals

What have we been up too in Sunday School? During the Spring semester we work on scripture memorization and will be walking through the " Life of Christ," together. I thought a great way to record the verses would be to make homemade journals out of felt.  I was so impressed with all the creative ideas our kids came up with. I just love letting the kids loose on any creative project.

The process of making this simple homemade journals is quite simple. Just fold and cut your felt sheet to your liking then decorate the cover. One class glued puffy dots, others made these glittered shields, and the little ones simply colored. I am impressed. Throughout the semester the students will be recording verses and compiling them together.

B-I-N-G-O

What have we been up to????  We have begun our Winter-Spring session here at Cal St.Georges and we are thrilled to be walking through the steps of Jesus, "The Life of Christ." One of the many ways we engage our youngest members is through the arts and sometimes games. This Sunday we will be playing a little Bible Bingo. I did not have enough time to order sheets so we quickly came up with our own. They are VERY simple to make and fun if you like writing. I know the kids love a little game and with prizes like a Rubixcube what more could our kiddos want!

Happy Day!
